A look at surface technology
Surface technology encompasses a variety of processes that aim to improve or change the properties of technical surfaces of solid bodies.
These techniques range from ablative or leveling methods such as cleaning, polishing and roughening through to modifying the surface using appropriate conversion processes.
Ecology & Economy
From an economic and ecological point of view, surface treatments offer considerable advantages. They enable cost savings and promote sustainability by reducing the use of expensive solid materials. Instead, workpieces made from simpler base materials are given high-quality surfaces in order to achieve the desired surface properties. This strategy allows both material costs to be reduced and the service life and performance of the end products to be optimized.
Surface technology makes another important contribution to sustainability by promoting environmentally friendly materials and processes, including coatings playing an ecological role by avoiding microplastic emissions and extending the life cycle of products.
